Business
Joe formed
Joseph Yoder Enterprises, Inc., in 1995 as a software-consulting firm
to assist companies with the development of software applications,
specifically object-oriented and web-based systems.
In addition to extensive research and
field work in the area of Object-Oriented technology, Joseph Yoder has
been an entrepreneur in various areas of business. The Local Biz.com
idea began as way for local businesses to improve their competitive
edge with the large corporate businesses in the area. So far there
are three Local Biz sites: CULocalBiz.com,
Dsm LocalBiz.com, and
Cedar Valley LocalBiz.com.
We created a community network of locally owned businesses that
support each other. By becoming a member, each business benefits from
our advertising campaign, in television, radio, and newspaper. We do a
lot of outreach in the community, including sponsoring various events,
hosting a calendar of events on our site, and community resource
pages. We hope to expand our community services in the coming year.
I am also a principle of The Refactory.
The Refactory, Inc. provides many services that cover all different
aspects of the software development process. We specialize in
everything that deals with Object-Orientation, ranging from Analysis
and Design, Building Frameworks, Refactoring, Testing, and eXtreme
Programming. We offer on-site and public Consulting, Mentoring,
Training, and Programming. The Refactory, Inc. offers training and
mentoring with OO concepts including advanced topics such as patterns,
refactoring, and adaptive object-models.
I am currently a standing member
of the Hillside Group. The
Hillside Group is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to improving human
communication about computers by encouraging people to codify common
programming and design practice. They sponsor conferences (like
PLoP,
EuroPLoP,
Using Patterns,
ChiliPLoP,
Mensore PLoP,
KoalaPLoP,
Viking
PLoP and
SugarLoafPLoP) and also host the
patterns home page.
